Williams, in a blog post on Twitter, Thursday (08/02/2010), also said that nearly 300 thousand third-party applications have been developed in this service, which allows users to connect to one another with the message 140 characters or less.

"The new service helps people get the most out of Twitter, contributing to the growth in users and new business opportunities - which are both essential for long-term survival," said Williams.

Other applications are in 10 major TwitPic, a program to upload photos, TweetDeck, Echofon, Google Friend Connect and UberTwitter. Twitter says the addition of numbers up to more than 100 percent because people often use more than one application to access these services.
